I like it, especially for a first time game made in a week! One suggestion, of what I personally think could improve it:

- The basic mechanic was really neat, but it was - I think probably unintentionally - hard to discern what exactly is casting a shadow. I experienced similar problems with the light mechanics of Godot in my first game. One thing that could work is to actually make it two lights on different layers - one strong one that casts shadows and truly illuminates, and a weaker, ambient light that does not cast shadows (at least not by the objects, maybe by the same occluder that keeps the light directional, still). That way, there should be a faint view of what you are lighting, instead of just a pitch black silhouette

But if this is your first, and with a time limit to boot, it's really good! Great job - and good luck and fun on your continuing journey :)

Man, that's an amazing suggestion.

I myself thought of a way to make it so you can see what you are seeing with the flashlight. but i could not find away to do it. What you suggested seems a perfect fix.

Thank you so much for playing and taking time to comment. I'll improve it in the future.

EDIT:

I tried it. It was as simple as duplicating the existing flashlight and disabling shadows and it made it so much better. Maybe I'll update the Game with the fix after voting.

I'm glad it helped! In my first game, the game I made before this jam, I ended up working quite a lot with lights and shadow, but I had no time limit, so I could take more time to think about it. Just keep putting out games, take opportunities to learn  and if you continue like this, I am sure you will create some great games in no time! :)
